Armenian lyrical soprano and pianist Christine Belbelian obtained her BA degree in Piano Performance, Music Teaching, Vocal Studies & Drama from the National Conservatoire in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1997 under the guidance of her piano professor Marta Magyarova and singing professor Alzbeta Bukovecka.
She then furthered her studies in singing and obtained her Diploma in opera singing from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music & Arts State University of Budapest, Hungary in 2001. Her singing professors were Marta Onody and Magda Nador. Her stage coach was Balazs Kovalik.
Christine’s Operatic repertoire encompasses a wide range of roles such as Gilda in Rigoletto, Bellini’s Norma, Pamina in Die Zauberflote, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Adele in Die Fledermaus and Delibes’s Lakme, just to name a few. In addition, she also has a large repertoire of Italian, French, German, English, Armenian, Russian & Arabic Art Songs. She has performed in many concert halls, events and festivals in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates.
Christine resides in Dubai with her husband and 2 children, where she offers singing and piano tuition, preparing students for ABRSM examinations and beyond. She is the founder member of the Emirates Opera Project, a collaboration of accomplished opera singers living in Dubai, with the joint vision of delivering Operatic performances and productions to professional standards using the locally available talent pool in the UAE.
During 2014 Christine has performed for Mr. Quincy Jones at one of Emirates Opera Project events organised by Montegrappa where Mr. Jones was a guest of honour together with Buzz Aldrin and Edgar Davids. She also participated together with Emirates Opera Project at the celebratory bicentenary anniversary concert of the legendary composer Giuseppe Verdi, performing the best of Verdi’s Operas where Mr. Jean Alessi was a guest of honour.
